qualia and Hamilton Island voted the best in Australia
03 Dec 2014
Australia’s premier Great Barrier Reef island destination, Hamilton Island continues to celebrate a successful year. Australian Traveller readers last night awarded the island’s luxury resort, qualia “Best Luxury Resort in Australia”, Spa qualia “Best Spa in Australia” and Hamilton Island “Australia’s most beautiful island getaway”; a total of 14 accolades to date in 2014.
The Australian Traveller’s annual Peoples’ Choice Awards surveyed 2,500 readers to uncover the best travel experiences Australians throughout the year.
A unique Australian expression of world-class luxury, and a member of Relais & Châteaux, qualia and Hamilton Island’s vision to deliver an exceptional experience, from award-winning food and wine to the finest resort leisure facilities, sees it once again topping the nation’s most recognised luxury destinations.
qualia’s General Manager, Matthew Taverner said it’s an honour guests believe the resort is leading the Australian luxury market.
“Creating an extraordinary guest experience is a central to all we do. Our team strives to ensure every qualia moment is memorable and of a world-class standard. We’re honoured that our guests believe we have achieved this and continue to view qualia as the epitome of luxury in Australia.
“As the domestic luxury resort market becomes increasingly competitive, these awards as voted by our guests are an honour and truly appreciated. The nine awards we have won this year are the ultimate encouragement for qualia to continue to lift the luxury standard in Australia even higher in 2015,” said Mr Taverner.
Situated on Hamilton Island's sun-drenched northern-most tip with breathtaking views of the surrounding Whitsunday Islands and tranquil Coral Sea, qualia’s distinctive design combines a sense of space, openness and harmony that draws the outside in. Set amongst native Eucalypts, the 60 luxurious pavilions are an indulgent space to unwind in, with either a sundeck or private infinity edge plunge pool.
Hamilton Island also hosts several special events for its guests throughout the year, including the popular Australian Ballet ‘Pas de Deux in Paradise’ outdoor performance at qualia, qualia’s Weekends of Wonderment event series featuring internationally acclaimed experts creating bespoke, hands on guest
experiences and the annual Audi Hamilton Island Race Week – the largest offshore sailing regatta in the Southern Hemisphere.
Attending these events and accessing this multi-award winning resort has been made even more seamless, particularly for international guests, thanks to this year’s return of Qantas flights to the island. Alongside Virgin Australia and Jetstar, regular Qantas flights now service the island direct from both Brisbane and Sydney, addressing the increased demand for premium travel options to Hamilton Island.
